Application Timeline and Steps

1. January – March 2025: Prepare application materials and request a pre-admission letter from a chosen university.
2. 31 March 2025: Submit the online application through the Chinese Government Scholarship System.
3. May 2025: Document review by experts at the Chinese Scholarship Council.
4. June 2025: Announcement of successful applicants and issuance of admission documents.
5. July & August 2025: Accepted applicants obtain study visas at Chinese embassies/consulates.
6. September 2025: Arrive in China, register at the university, commence studies, and obtain residence permits.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a South African citizen in good physical and mental health.
• Must be under 45 years of age.
• Must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience, preferably related to the chosen field of study.

• Applicants must fall into one of the following categories:
  1. Government official at the division chief level (or equivalent) or above.
  2. Senior manager of an institution or enterprise.
  3. Administrator of a university or research institution.
  4. Relevant employment or internship experience in international organizations.
• Must secure a pre-admission letter from a participating Chinese institution before applying.

Application Process

1. Pre-admission Letter: Contact a participating institution to secure a pre-admission letter.
2. Online Submission: Complete applications via the Chinese Government Scholarship System by 31 March 2025. Select “Type A” for Scholarship Type and use Agency Number 7101 (Embassy of P.R. China in South Africa).
3. Email Submission: Send a copy of your application materials to the Chinese Embassy in South Africa for preliminary review at zhaoyong.saedu@hotmail.com.
