Railway Safety Regulator Bursary Opportunity 2025

The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) is a public entity established under Section 4 of the National Railway Safety Regulator Act No.16 of 2002 (as amended).
The RSR is offering bursaries to South African school leavers and students aged 15-35 who are currently studying or wish to pursue undergraduate studies in recognized and accredited institutions of higher learning. Fields of study include:
The primary role of RSR is to oversee and enforce safety performance among all railway operators in South Africa, including those from neighboring countries engaging in rail operations in South Africa.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen aged between 15-35 years.
- Must not be receiving financial aid from any other sponsorship or bursary scheme.
- Must be available for an interview upon request and willing to sign a Bursary Agreement.
- Must submit proof of registration/admission to the relevant institution.
- For first-year applicants: Submit Grade 11 results or Grade 12 mid-term results showing a minimum average of 65%.
- Other applicants must provide current academic records with a minimum average of 65% for the current academic year.
Application Requirements (Supporting Documents)
Applications must include the following documents:
- Completed application forms available at www.rsr.org.za/careers.
- Certified copy of the admission/registration letter for the academic year.
- Certified copy of the latest official Academic Record or Grade 11/Grade 12 mid-term results.
- Certified copy of the identification document (ID).
- Motivational letter.
- Quotation of the academic year’s tuition fees.
Important Notes
- The RSR reserves the right to withdraw the bursary invitation without awarding any bursaries.
- All personal information will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
- Email submissions will not be accepted.
