About The Role

The role includes handling complex implementations such as changing routing architecture, building new data centres, deploying new firewalls, and performing upgrades with significant impact.

Our Ideal Candidate

• At least seven years of networking experience and a minimum of ten years in IT-related roles.
• A CCNP certification is required, with additional certifications from other networking vendors being highly desirable.
• Proficiency in various networking verticals, including data centres, backbone-oriented technology, campus networks, wireless networks, and network security.
• Ability to handle second call standby duties, resolving complex issues that the first call cannot address
• Capable of working independently and managing yourself effectively

About this role:

As a Senior Data Scientist at Capitec, your purpose is to drive the Capitec’s AI strategy, with the unique opportunity to shape and own this vision from the ground up. This involves leveraging advanced, practical knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning principles and techniques—including deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and reinforcement learning—to develop innovative models and solve complex business challenges. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising predictive models and intelligent algorithms to uncover actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across departments.

 

The role also includes the full machine learning lifecycle, from data preprocessing and experimental design to production-level model deployment. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will gather requirements and manage stakeholder engagement across the business, including executive-level management. Additionally, you will bring expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, while mentoring junior data scientists to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.

Our ideal candidate has:

• 6+ years of experience in a Senior Data Science role
• Master’s degree or higher in any of the following field statistics, mathematics, computer science, physics
• Hands on experience deploying AI/ML solutions in real-world applications
• Experience with advanced data science principles including NLP, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or time-series modeling.
• Python/R experience and relation/Non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with modern deep learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow)
• Stakeholder engagement management up to executive management.
• Github experience or Git

About the role:

As a Cyber Security Architect at Capitec, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing advanced security solutions to safeguard our systems and data from evolving cyber threats. With a minimum of 5 years in cybersecurity roles and at least 3 years specifically in a cybersecurity architecture capacity, you will leverage your hands-on experience with infrastructure and security tools to assess, enhance, and fortify our security frameworks.

 

Your role involves evaluating current architectures, identifying vulnerabilities, and crafting robust defenses, particularly in multi-cloud environments. Someone with expertise in emerging technologies and a deep understanding of security. Consult, design and implement robust security solutions that address current and emerging threats. Ensure Capitec systems and data are secure, compliant with industry standards, and resilient against cyberattacks.

Our ideal candidate has:

• 5+ years of hand on experience in any cybersecurity role
• 3+ years in a cybersecurity architecture position
• Understanding core principles like confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Knowledge of network topologies, cloud infrastructures, software architecture, data flow, and system design.
• Understanding encryption standards and practices to secure data transmissions.
• Expertise in securing cloud environments e.g. AWS
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate security tasks as well as IaS e.g. terraform
• Proficiency in automation tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Knowledge of secure coding techniques to prevent vulnerabilities during the development process
• Able to formulate and document security policies, standards, guidelines and roadmaps. (NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, POPIA, etc)
