SPAR | Bean Tree We are looking for a friendly, energetic and customer-focused Hostess / Bean Tree Manager at SPAR Hasendaal to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Bean Tree, while creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for every customer. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, smooth daily operations, product quality and a clean, well-presented environment, while supporting the achievement of sales and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Bean Tree.
  • Welcome and engage with customers in a warm, professional and friendly manner.
  • Ensure customers receive excellent service and a positive overall experience.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages, food and other Bean Tree offerings in accordance with required standards.
  • Ensure the Bean Tree is consistently clean, organised and attractively presented.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving and controlling stock.
  • Minimise wastage and ensure effective stock rotation.
  • Manage cash-up procedures and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor sales and identify opportunities to increase turnover and customer spend.
  • Promote Bean Tree products, specials and promotions.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and health-and-safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Coordinate and supervise staff, including allocating duties and monitoring performance.
  • Train and coach team members on customer service, product knowledge and operational standards.
  • Address customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including stock, sales and operational reporting.
  • Work closely with the Store Management team to ensure the Bean Tree operates effectively within the SPAR environment.

 

Minimum requirements

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience in hospitality, coffee shop, restaurant, food service or retail.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience in customer service and cash handling.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
