We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

As Specialist Corporate Development you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Contribute to the development of the strategy for the Corporate Development function
- Support the evaluation and establishment of optimal capital structure, including analysis of options, and management of execution/implementation of decision outcomes, including utilisation of debt funding
- Oversight of treasury function, including cash and compliance management
- Analysis and forecasting of cashflows and application of dividend policy in formulating dividend proposals
- Provide support on annual budgeting, capital rationing process and quarterly performance reporting
- Advise senior management on the financial implications of investments and loans, particularly concerning medium and long-term financial plans and projects in the context of the group’s available liquidity sources.
- Drive considerations related to capital structure, analysing various options and overseeing the execution and implementation of decisions that align with sustainability goals.
- Design and implement employee share schemes to foster a sense of ownership and commitment among the workforce
- Analysis of past and present empowerment and other ownership transactions to ensure accurate and complete reporting
- Identify potential acquisition targets, conduct comprehensive due diligence, and present detailed reports to inform decision-making
- Provide the commercial analysis regarding the group’s key domestic partnerships and contracts
- Provide support for other senior Corporate Finance roles as required, e.g. M & A work.
- Participate in negotiations with prospective counterparties to achieve best commercial outcomes for the group
- Providing project management support and detail commercial project valuations to enable commercial evaluation, negotiations and structuring of strategic projects
- Managing transactional and project evaluation support (especially for the group’s growth and long-term strategic initiatives) and interface to Anglo American Corporate Finance and leading transaction execution aspects.
- Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and uphold compliance standards
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, NGOs, and government agencies, to promote sustainable and socially responsible business practices
- Driving objective of zero harm and a safety culture
This role is in the FIN – Corporate Development at a Band 6 level reporting to Manager Corporate Development.
- Finance Degree – CA(SA)
- MBA advantageous
- SA Drivers License
Experience
- Minimum of six year’s proven experience in a corporate finance environment dealing with similar responsibilities
- Knowledge of accounting at an operational level
- In-depth understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and King III
- Exceptional analytical thinking skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), SAP, and Hyperion
- Comprehensive knowledge of legislative, statutory, and regulatory safety, health, and environmental requirements
- Experience and interest in complex financial analysis and modelling
- Preparation and delivery of reports and presentations.
