About The Role
The role includes handling complex implementations such as changing routing architecture, building new data centres, deploying new firewalls, and performing upgrades with significant impact.
Our Ideal Candidate
- At least seven years of networking experience and a minimum of ten years in IT-related roles.
- A CCNP certification is required, with additional certifications from other networking vendors being highly desirable.
- Proficiency in various networking verticals, including data centres, backbone-oriented technology, campus networks, wireless networks, and network security.
- Ability to handle second call standby duties, resolving complex issues that the first call cannot address
- Capable of working independently and managing yourself effectively

Purpose Statement
- Primary contact between business stakeholders and IT teams in aligning technology solutions with business objectives
- To design, configure, and maintain automation and integration to systems across the Systems Development Lifecycle, which are aligned to business processes and relevant governance.
- To provide technical system support and query resolution and liaising with system parties to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
Minimum Experience

About the role:
Level II Back End Software Engineer: The Level II Full Stack Software Engineer is an essential member of a dynamic, cross-functional team, contributing to every phase of the software development lifecycle—from concept and development to deployment and operation. At this level, engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software systems and applications according to specifications, while adhering to established standards. They translate requirements from business or technical analysts and actively collaborate with the delivery team in design and problem-solving.
This role is integral to Capitec’s Live Better rewards program, managing the rewards system that calculates benefits based on clients’ transaction spend. The system determines benefits according to the type of transactions performed by clients over a specific period, ensuring a rewarding experience for Capitec’s client

The Level III Software Engineer is integral to the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and operation. They design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance complex software systems, ensuring scalability and performance. They also guide developers and stakeholders in resolving engineering problems.

About the Role
The Database Engineer is responsible for investigating, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organisation’s PostgreSQL databases, primarily hosted on AWS Aurora and RDS platforms. This role involves database design, administration, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and mentoring junior team members. A strong understanding of MySQL databases is also required. Additionally, the Database Engineer engages in research and development activities and contributes to business continuity planning tasks alongside the system engineers.
Our ideal candidate
- Over 5 years of experience in database administration and design, with a minimum of 3 years specifically focused on PostgreSQL.
- More than 2 years of experience in performance monitoring and analysis.
- Managing PostgreSQL databases on AWS services, including RDS for PostgreSQL and/or Aurora PostgreSQL, for at least 2 years.
- Demonstrable experience in MySQL database administration, encompassing installation, configuration, backup, and basic performance management.
- Experience in migrating on-premises databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) to AWS, including the use of AWS DMS and native backup/restore method.
Minimum Education
Grade 12 National Certificate
Minimum Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of PostgreSQL database architecture, design, administration, and internals.
- Strong understanding of IT systems (SDLC lifecycle).
- Strong understanding of business continuity planning and disaster recovery strategies for databases, particularly within AWS.
- Strong understanding of cloud storage concepts relevant to databases.
