Job Description for Security Guard

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and responsible Security Guard to join our team. The objective of the security section is to protect Wilderness Camps of Zimbabwe property, assets, guests, and team members by maintaining a safe and secure environment in a professional manner according to Wilderness Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Abiding and following up on the Company Loss Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Monitoring and recording any security threats, suspicious activities, reckless behaviour and actions.
  • Keeping the line manager and supervisor informed of all matters requiring security and safety attention.
  • Bringing any security breaches to the immediate attention of Management.
  • Being alert to all security aspects of the camp not limited to guests, team members and property assets.
  • Maintaining a professional distance and relations with team members and guests without compromising the security of the company.
  • Ensuring that vehicles are safely parked, radios are off and windows are closed.
  • Lighting of the pathway lights, building structure lights, security spotlights every morning & evening.
  • Ensuring all aspects of Loss Control are adhered to: Property/Assets as per Camp SOP
  • Assistance with guest luggage, offloading of trucks when necessary.
  • Adhering to the Camp Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure a smooth operation and service delivery.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Security Training or Law Enforcement Training from an accredited Security Institution
  • A minimum of two years’ experience being a Security Guard or Law Enforcer with Stores Control knowledge
  • Basic writing, reading and speaking proficiency in English Language and basic knowledge of job-related terminology required.
  • Knowledgeable in the lost and found procedure for guest and team member items.
  • Understands safari camp standard operating procedures and reporting structures
  • Basic Firefighting, First Aid and CPR certification is required, with additional outdoor/remote area certifications being advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as dictated by camp needs.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform active tasks, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
  • Knowledgeable on the Powers of Detention and Security Reporting Protocol.
  • Well versed in bush setting and is able to give directions and camp locations.
  • Dexterity and the use of various safety equipment and tools.
