Position Overview:
As a Cashier at Roots Butchery, you’ll be at the heart of the customer experience. You will be responsible for processing transactions accurately, assisting customers with their purchases, and ensuring the checkout area is well-organized and efficient. Your role will contribute to the overall satisfaction of our customers and ensure they leave with a positive impression. Key Responsibilities:
- Process Transactions Efficiently and Accurately
- Handle all types of transactions, including cash, debit, and credit card payments.
- Ensure that change is given accurately, and all transactions follow store policies.
- Maintain an organized cash drawer and accurately balance till at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Provide Excellent Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases.
- Answer questions and provide information about our products, services, and promotions.
- Resolve minor customer concerns courteously, or escalate issues to a supervisor when needed.
- Maintain Checkout Area Cleanliness and Organization
- Keep the cashier counter tidy, stocked with necessary supplies, and free of clutter.
- Follow hygiene and cleanliness standards, especially when handling meat products.
- Ensure that all point-of-sale equipment is in good working order, and report any issues to management.
- Assist with Store Promotions and Sales
- Be knowledgeable about store specials and promotions to inform customers.
- Encourage customers to participate in store loyalty programs and other promotional events.
- Help with occasional merchandising tasks to promote featured products.
- Support Store Operations
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth store operations.
- Assist in restocking products or maintaining displays when required.
- Adhere to all Roots Butchery policies, including cash handling, safety, and customer service protocols.
Requirements for Cashier:
- Educational Requirement:
- Minimum Grade 10 qualification is required. A higher educational level is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a cashier role or customer service position is a plus but not required. Roots Butchery provides training for candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Basic Numeracy: Proficient in counting cash, handling transactions accurately, and balancing till records.
- Customer Service Orientation: Friendly and approachable demeanor with a passion for serving customers.
- Communication Skills: Clear communication skills to engage with customers and co-workers effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate in transaction processing and handling financial responsibilities.
