About the Job:

The Head of Direct Life is responsible for the clear direction of the overall sales strategy for the Direct Life business by practicing sound business principles in accordance with Direct Life business governance.

 

Role Description:

This role is accountable for the strategic direction as well as the operational components, managed through a matrix function. This includes Sales, Marketing, Customer Management (leads), Complaints, Quality and Customer Experience, Finance, HR, Risk, and Compliance.

 

The key focus areas are delivering sales, leads pipeline and conversion, customer acquisition, customer retention and managing profitability of the Direct Life business. Reaching Middle Income customers, manage a large telephonic contact center, within a legislative and regulatory environment.

 

This role reports to the Managing Director – Personal Finance and forms part of the Personal Finance Exco.

 

KRA’s
·          Grow and service the Middle Income customer base via a direct sales contact centre.

·          Build strong Strategic Partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.

·          Formulate the business and sales plan of Direct Life.

·          Build and grow the business in terms of activity and sales.

·         Ensure leads provision and conversion within the business.

·          Build the Direct Life Agent capacity for the future.

·          Manage and grow the production and profitability of the business.

·          Manage risk and compliance.

·          Ensure future fit business in terms of regulatory requirements.

·          Build a high performance culture.

·          Build and maintain efficient capability in terms of business processes, infrastructure and skills for the business.

·          Effectively managing change.

·          Act as a Key Individual as contemplated in FAIS and to assume the related responsibility.

 

Job Requirements
·         A relevant degree/tertiary qualification that meets the FSB’s qualification requirements for Key Individuals and/or a CFP certification.

·         10 years’ experience within financial/life assurance industry.

·         An established track record of experience in sales within a contact center environment.

·         A clear understanding of sales and distribution within finance / life assurance industry.

·         Proven success as a manager within the finance / life assurance industry.

·         Knowledge and experience of People Leadership, Relevant Legislation, Customer Marketing Strategy, Strategic Leadership, Sales Management, Financial and Risk Management.

·         Understand financial principles and controls and business processes.

·         Experience and knowledge of the distribution of Personal Finance products.
