Job Description:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation and health, safety, environmental and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
  • Extending services (air, water and pump lines)
  • Repairing services
  • Installing/extending firing line
  • Installing electrical cable in drives (assisting electricians)
  • Installing/extending communications infrastructure
  • Installing/Replacing pumps
  • Moving and installing refuge chambers
  • Small infrastructure projects e.g. pouring cement floors
  • Installing sprays for dust suppression in declines and elsewhere
  • Set up headings with ground support
  • Plate and tension cable bolts
  • Extension, maintenance and repairs of all ventilation related services
  • Installing and moving secondary fans
  • Install ventilation ducting and Installing temporary ventilationwalls
  • Repairing and replacing ventilation ducting
  • Extending ventilation ducting
  • Installing and maintaining extraction system ducting for Kimberlite development (steel ducting + vent bag)

This role is in the Mining department at a BU level reporting to the Shift Boss.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Competent B certificate
  • Required classification as per specific VTS testing will be advantageous

Experience required

  • Minimum of 1 year’s practical experience in a Trackless underground mining environment will be advantageous
  • Sound knowledge and experience of: Underground construction services and Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role will require
Additional information:
  • Code B Driver’s License
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
  • The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance
