The City of Johannesburg (COJ), Emergency Management Services Department has the following Internship opportunity available for a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months.

The details are as follows:

Emergency Management Services Operations (Medical) Intern [x2]

Appointment Requirements:

  • Matric, Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy;
  • Computer literacy with all MS Packages;
  • Must be able to work extended hours as and when required;
  • Ages between 18 – 35 years, and
  • Only the City of Joburg residents will be considered.

Primary Function: Assist the Deputy Director Medical to effectively and efficiently manage the EMS Medical pharmacy. Conduct inspections of the pharmacy warehouse to monitor compliance with

GPP. Conduct inspection of clinics to monitor compliance with GPP. coordinate planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of proper control over all pharmaceutical services. Ensure proper registers relevant to pharmaceutical services are kept, updated, and maintained in good order. Ensure proper dispensing of medicines to EMS medical staff.

Key Learning Areas: Ensure safekeeping, confidentiality, and proper handling of information in line with applicable legislation.

Leading Competencies: Confidentiality and the ability to work under pressure. Good communication skills.

Core Competencies: Familiar with the SAP system and knowledge of the City of Joburg’s Conditions of Service will be an advantage.
