Job Description

AVI Field Marketing, a division of AVI Limited, handles the sales and merchandising for the beverages, snacking, and cosmetic business units to ensure improved execution at the store level. An opportunity has become available for an experienced Wholesale Sales Representative to manage wholesale customers in Johannesburg and surrounding areas. This role will be directly reporting to the Field Sales Manager and will be expected to report to the Isando regional office. This position requires an individual who enjoys a fast-paced, team-oriented environment who enjoys being challenged, and values the opportunity to make a difference.

Line Manager: Field Sales Manager

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Target achievement
  2. Calculate the rate of sale and negotiate orders with buyers accordingly
  3. Manage stock levels, expiry dates, and returns in store
  4. Negotiate forward share in relation to market share
  5. Manage the process of sell in prior to price increases and expiry
  6. Monitor and communicate pricing to Key Accounts
  7. Negotiate promotional plans
  8. Ensure shelf health is maintained according to perfect outlet standards
  9. Ensure customer records are maintained
  10. Ensure merchandiser attendance register is up to date
  11. Effective management of merchandiser
  12. Ensure a good working relationship is maintained with both management and floor staff in stores
  13. Follow the call cycles and communicate any changes to the customer
  14. Records of all company equipment or assets are up to date
  15. Opposition and trade information is communicated according to company requirements

Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum of 3 years experience Wholesale Sales Representative role
  • Experience within FMCG dealing with wholesale customers (Masscash, Independent wholesalers, etc.)
  • Supervisory skills


  • Completed Grade 12 (Matric)
  • A completed tertiary qualification (Business Management / Sales / Marketing/ Retail)

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Drivers’ license
  • The ability to travel is essential
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Sound knowledge of the FMCG industry
