ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to safeguard premises, assets, information and personnel, interact with customers and people, operate security equipment and execute security functions within the ambit of the law and company policies and procedures.

 

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

  • Respond to operational emergencies and Security related incidents (surfaces and underground)
  • Underground patrols mitigating the risk of illegal mining
  • Safety Performance (Reporting near misses, Operate IMS System, Conduct tool box talks) Crime combating utilizing well planned intelligence driven operations
  • Providing tactical assistance to other functions within the Department (surfaces and underground)
  • Perform high-risk operations (surfaces and underground)
  • Assist with crowd control (surfaces and underground)
  • High level & quick response to security incidents (surfaces and underground)
  • Coordinate surveillance of area based on crime trends (surfaces and underground)
  • Perform proactive planning
  • Stake out operations (surfaces and underground)
  • Perform high visibility crime prevention initiatives (surfaces and underground)
  • Safe handling of firearms
  • To initiate crime prevention actions where applicable
  • Respond to crime incidents (surfaces and underground)
  • Give evidence in disciplinary hearings and court proceedings
  • Complete Monthly Reports 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

Formal Education

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Registration with PSIRA Grade B or relevant Law proven enforcement formal training
  • 1 Year certificate in Security management or relevant qualification
  • Supervisory course or equivalent qualification
  • Driver’s License – Advanced driving course / 2 years proven driving experience
  • Qualify to be registered with National Key Point Secretariat
  • Firearm competency for business purposes
  • Advanced Special weapons and tactics training (SAPS, SANDF, Correctional Services)
  • Special Task Force Training (Will Be To Your Advantage – SAPS, SANDF)
  • National Intervention Unit Training (Will Be To Your Advantage – SAPS)
  • Bomb Disposal Technician Training (Will Be To Your Advantage – SAPS)
  • Counter Assault Training (Will Be To Your Advantage – SAPS)
  • Tactical Response Training (SAPS or other)
  • Special Forces Operator Training (Will Be To Your Advantage – Recce, SANDF)
  • Positive Security Clearance
  • Dual Dog Handler (explosives, patrolling, tracking and narcotics – Will Be To Your Advantage)

 

  • Minimum Experience
  • Advanced Computer and Security systems skills
  • 6 Years total Security / SAPS, SANDF, Other and Correctional Services relevant experience of which 2 years’ experience in controlling work activities
