The purpose of the  Engineering Bursary role is to support the development of future engineering professionals by providing students with financial assistance, academic support, and practical exposure aligned to their field of study. The bursary programme enables students to acquire theoretical knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies required to pursue a successful engineering career within the steelmaking industry. Engineering Bursary Students are expected to maintain academic excellence, actively participate in vacation work and workplace learning opportunities, and uphold the values and standards of ArcelorMittal South Africa. Through structured development and industry exposure, the programme seeks to create a sustainable pipeline of engineering talent capable of contributing to the company’s operational excellence, innovation, and long-term business objectives.
ArcelorMittal South Africa is awarding bursaries for studies towards a four year engineering degree at an acknowledged South African University.
The bursary covers:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Books
- Accommodation Allowance
- Food Allowances
- Once off laptop allowance

- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
Minimum requirements
Qualification & requirementsÂ
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Planning to enroll full-time at a South African University for 2027
- For current grade 12 students – English, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (Minimum 75%)
- Students currently at universities – must have passed all the courses for which you have registered at the university for the study period already completed
