Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description:

As the Equipment Training Officer, you will be expected to be involved with the implementation and conducting theoretical and practical training on the operation of primary and secondary equipment and assessments in line with prescribed standards.

In this role your responsibility will include:

  • Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of training material, programmes, and assessments in line with prescribed standards
  • Coach and guide trainees
  • Conduct need/ skills assessments to determine training needs
  • Assess learner practical and theoretical competencies against approved MQA, NQF & other standards and maintain a related portfolio of evidence for each learner.
  • Implement effective/innovative technical training programs and development opportunities to develop the skills of all employees

This role is in the Human Resources department at a Band 7 and reporting to the Supervisor Equipment.


You will be required to have:

  • Grade 12 /N3
  • Relevant post grade 12 qualification (advantageous)
  • Assessor/Moderator registration with MQA (advantageous) or
  • OD ETDP Level 4 certificate (advantageous)


  • 2 years previous mining training experience

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Dover assessment
