An exceptional opportunity awaits a dynamic individual with the right qualification and
experience to assume the position of a General Manager: Finance. This person will be
responsible for managing the financial capability including the preparation of management andstatutory information for executive management and other internal stakeholders. This
responsibility will incorporate compliance with relevant statutory and other legislation;
safeguarding the assets and interests of the Ithala SOC Limited by advising the Chief Financial
Officer (CFO) and the executive management about the financial health of the organisation.

The responsibilities for the successful candidate will be to:
 To support the CFO in developing and implementing the organizational financial plans in
alignment with the approved organizational strategy.
 Provide effective financial control to Ithala whilst working as an integral part of the team.
 Implement robust financial risk management strategies and policies to mitigate against risks
that face Ithala.
 Implement continuous financial auditing and control systems to evaluate and monitor
organizational performance.
 Coordinate and drive the preparation and presentation of the annual financial statements
and other related reports.
 Report on operational activities, efficiencies, and variances in line with laws, regulations and
policy.
 Facilitate compliance with accounting standards and policies as well as best practices that
are suitable to Ithala.
 Prepare annual budget and consolidative business unit budgets, financial and business
plans, feasibility studies and other operational plans for consideration by the CFO.
 Manage service level agreements with suppliers including accountants and auditors,
consultants, underwriters, etc.
 Support the CFO in creating and maintain working relationships with other financial
institutions and regulatory bodies to operationalise working plans and corporate governance.
 Develop and continuously improve accounting systems including software and other
financial communication systems.
 Initiate and engage in all manner of activities that will ensure financial health, growth and
achievement of business goals.
 Attract, develop, and retain talented staff including fostering of a high performance culture.
 Be a catalyst for change.

The following minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for this
position:
 Postgraduate tertiary qualification in commerce and banking or equivalent.
 A Chartered Accountant with at least five (5) years related senior executive experience
preferably in a banking environment.
 Knowledge and insight in facilitating the effective management of the treasury function.
 Knowledge of computerized systems (ERP Systems).
 In depth knowledge and application ability of finance management and development.
 Diplomacy, discretion, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills.
 An intimate understanding of Ithala as an organization together with an appreciation of its
strategic objectives, policies and procedures.
 A proven record of a successful career in financial management.
 Well-developed presentation and negotiation skills.
 Knowledge of relevant legislation like Banks Act, PFMA, etc.
 Experience and ability to improve organizational efficiencies and improve returns from
existing businesses.
 High financial skills and acumen to compile, manage and report on financial status of the
division
 The ability to perceive and understand the true nature of a commercial opportunity in a
competitive market and to develop strategies to harness the opportunity, specifically within
the KZN environment.
 Honesty, integrity and good business ethics.
